Wario Land: The Shake Dimension? Good. Wario: Master of Disguise? Not so good. Wario Land DS? A possibility, apparently. The lovely folks at Cubed3 are running an interview with Nintendo’s Takahiro Harada and Nobuo Matsumiya about their contribution to the tubby funster’s waggle-tastic Wii adventure, and reacted enthusiastically to the suggestion of a Wario Land game for the DS.
“Wario Land DS - oh I just want to develop it! Maybe, if many of your readers’ opinions are gathered and sent to us, it might be an idea that will be realised in the not too distant future. Everyone, do you want to play Wario Land DS?”
There’s only one reasonable answer to that, of course, and that’s “hell, yes”. So if you’re keen, then register your vote here.
Well, do you? If so, then hop on over to Free Radical’s official site, where the developer has a poll running, asking the internet which format it would like to play Timesplitters 4 on.
As most sensible people know, the Timesplitters series is responsible for three of the most anarchic and funny games within the genre - particularly the second game, which was certainly one of GameCube’s top third-party titles. so make your vote count - pick Wii, and we could be seeing a MotionPlus-assisted, hugely fun blaster in the not-too-distant.
As I write this, Wii is leading the race - proving that its audience is certainly clamouring for more first-person shooters. In a strange reversal of fortune, the shooter’s console of choice, the Xbox 360 is lagging behind in third, with the PlayStation 3 looking like Wii’s only serious challenger at this stage. If you care about your Wii, don’t let Sony win. Vote now!
Wii Music appears to be the most divisive of Nintendo’s forthcoming products - and by divisive, I mean that the vast majority of gamers seem to be hugely skeptical, with but a faintly murmuring minority offering anything by way of praise. Sure, some think Animal Crossing: City Folk is little but a half-hearted rehash of the DS version, but loads of people still love El Crosso. So most of the anti-Nintendo scorn has been poured upon poor old Wii Music.
But I’d like to know what YOU think? Is Wii Music really the worst kind of casual-embracing no-challenge blanditude? Or does it represent a brave experiment in what constitutes a videogame? Or is it just something which looks like it could be a bit of fun, but, y’know, I’ll wait for the reviews?
Have your say by voting in the poll above, and then feel free to comment on your answer. And let’s see if Wii Music really is quite as roundly disliked as the internet would seem to suggest.
Metroid Prime 3: Corruption got a little lost in the hype for Halo 3, but it remains (for my money, at least) one of the best games on Wii - hugely polished, with fantastic controls, terrific graphics and music and a tremendous sense of pacing.
But with Nintendo taking a break from the Metroid franchise, what could this talented developer be currently working on? Rumours suggested it could be Kid Icarus, though others have Factor 5 down for that one. A brand new IP wouldn’t be out of the question, but given that Nintendo canned the other planned titles from Retro when it started working on the original Prime, that seems unlikely. Starfox? Could be, though Pilotwings might be an even better shout…
Let me know your thoughts - comment below on your vote, and why you picked the option you did. We should know the answer by this time next week…
