Red Steel

The latest issue of unofficial UK Nintendo publication NGamer can be found in stores from today, though it’s next month’s edition which looks more interesting.

At the back of the mag, the next month page advertises an ‘Easter reviews special’, covering the likes of GTA: Chinatown Wars, Broken Sword and Little King’s Story.

But more excitingly, the mag also promises the first look at Red Steel 2, sequel to Ubisoft’s FPS/sword-fighter which was something of a commercial success during the Wii’s launch window. Better still is the news that the game will feature “Motion Plus swordsmanship” says the mag.

Issue #35 of NGamer, on sale March 25th, but likely to reach subscribers five or six days earlier, will also uncover Dead Space: Extraction in more detail.

Plenty to look forward to, then, especially if you subscribe to this excellent magazine.

    I’ve had a borrowed copy of the original sat on a shelf opened for months now - is it worth the effort ??

    I only played it briefly at the Wii Flat just before the console’s launch. Seemed okay, but nothing really special. Controls were the most notable thing, and FPS controls on the Wii have improved massively since then. Some nice ideas, but don’t expect anything too amazing.

    I played through Red Steel and it was alright. Nothing special. The swordplay SUCKED. That was the thing I was most looking forward too, turns out you can pretty much win any fight by waving the nunchuk and wiimote aimlessly around.

    Garbage game. Utter and complete filth. I was only a student of game development at the time that I played it but I could point put multiple flaws.

    Errors in scripted sequences
    Broken geometry
    Broken AI
    Graphics artifacts

    I sincerely hope that somebody lost their job or gracefully stepped down after heading up the original project. I’ve since sold my Wii so you can bet that I won’t be tempted to even consider the sequel.

    If you are a fan of a shooter game, you should think about getting this ame. There is alot of good action.
