World of Goo coming to WiiWare in Europe after all!

World of Goo

Rejoice, one and all, for it’s a good news week if you’re European and a fan of WiiWare. Not only do we have confirmation that the Art Style games will be arriving on these shores over the next few weeks, but in a startling reverse it seems 2D Boy’s classic puzzler (which I gave a glowing review to) is set to hit WiiWare this December.

According to the developer’s official blog, 2D Boy has “realized that releasing world of goo as a wii retail game in europe is unfair to those on the other side of the atlantic” and so has “been in discussions with our european publisher about how to make things right. Today, we’re happy to announce that World of Goo will be coming to WiiWare in Europe after all! We’ve started the submission process and hope to release it sometime in december.  We’d like to thank our publisher, RTL Games, for being flexible and working with us on this course correction.”

Great news, although it does mean we lose the planned extra level set for inclusion in the retail version. Could it be made available as DLC at a later date? Here’s hoping. Either way, try and do your bit to get the word out about World of Goo as it deserves to be a massive success when it finally arrives.
