Nintendo localising “exciting and unexpected” title?

Captain Rainbow

Ooh, intrigue. I’m not getting my hopes up, because these things never turn out quite as you want them to, but according to the excellent MTV Multiplayer blog, Nintendo of America was working on something surprising fairly recently.

Treehouse - essentially Nintendo’s US translation team - was evidently beavering away on said project in February, according to employee JC Rodrigo, and he describes it thus:

“I looked around and basically, I said to my boss, ‘Really? Are you serious?!’ and he said ‘Yeah, I’m not kidding.’ So, I’m like ‘oooookay!’ [laughs] So I started doing…something. Something exciting and something unexpected — something completely unexpected.”

He’s talking about his first day at Nintendo, so anything’s bound to be a bit surprising and new and different, but something that still can’t be discussed? It must mean something which hasn’t been announced yet. So naturally, I’m reading way too much into this and foolishly predicting that Skip’s Japanese curio Captain Rainbow may be headed Stateside. Here’s hoping.
