“SUPER SMASHING SHAKING FUN THIS SUMMER!”

Hey, don’t worry Patrick. There’s always E3.

Wow. Does Nintendo ever have some treats for us this summer. In a press release issued today, the big N has announced its ’summer’ line-up for Wii consisting of a whopping - wait for it - TWO games. And one of those is coming out at the end of September. ‘Summer’, my backside.

The first you know about already. Evidently Nintendo thinks we’re going to be so busy playing Super Smash Bros. Brawl (that none of us imported and none of us bought Freeloaders so we could play, no sir) that we can wait another three months for Wario Land: The Shake Dimension.

“Super Smash Bros. Brawl is set to bring the fast, furious and frenetic world of the brawl to the masses!” shrieks the excited blurb. Then, this gem:

“If that wasn’t enough-”

I’ll stop you there, Nintendo. No, it’s not enough. It really, really isn’t. It’s a game most people who were remotely interested in have been playing for months. And then you make us wait until September for your next big release? Pffffft, I say. And other words with ‘f’ in them.

Anyway, what of Wario’s 2D newie? “Wario makes his debut with his first dedicated adventure on Wii with Wario Land: The Shake Dimension. Nintendo’s most famous anti-hero is shaken and tilted to the very limit using the Wii’s innovative control system, bringing the magic of 2D platform adventure gaming to new and existing gamers everywhere from 26 September 2008.”

To new and existing gamers. See if you can decipher what that’s going to mean for the game’s difficulty, readers.

    Great facepalm pic btw.

Despite what you say, SSBB will sell like chocolate-filled hotcakes with chocolate-filled centres. And most people here will be playing Brawl all Summer (mostly).

I know I am. I would have imported it if it wasn’t for my reluctance in getting the freeloader (I didn’t think it was “future-proof” and guess what? it wasn’t…).

You make it sound like a summer drought is a new thing.

Ah, but Nintendo intimated that this would be a thing of the past.

Not only that, but I’m sure we’ve rarely gone three whole months without a first-party release before.
