Majesco flames Gamespot writer for Cooking Mama 2 review

let_s_cook_11.jpgWhen you write reviews of games for a living, it’s inevitable that from time to time game developers and publishers call you up to say things like, “What gives?” “Did you even play the game?” and “You sh*t.”

People refuse to send code to you, ignore your messages, give you the cold shoulder, and generally act as though you’ve made a personal attack on them if you happen to think the game they’ve made isn’t very good and you share this conclusion with the buying public. Which is fair enough. Critics are a loathsome bunch.

What we don’t tend to do, however, is tell anybody about the retribution we’ve had to field, because it’s very much a confidential – even personal – matter. Which is why it feels oddly licentious to read the e-mail that former Gamespot writer Alex Navarro has evidently chosen to share with the world.

Having told Gamespot’s readers that the popular DS title Cooking Mama 2 is “not worth their while,” and that they ought to “leave this one alone,” he received the following rather measured, rather smug, and utterly chilling rebuttal from developer Majesco. Read it after the jump.
