Wii blogger rejoices in figurative violence

On what I can only assume is Nintendo’s official Wii blog, writer Heiss yesterday posted an article making the case for the Wii as a sound platform for third party development, despite, he imagined, a brigade of imaginary critics imaginarily dismissing the Wiimote as “over-innovative.” Citing sales figures for games like Rayman Raving Rabbids (1.2m), Resident Evil 4 (1.6m), and Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles (900k), Heiss argued that “3rd party developers have made more interactive and innovative games that spark a craving to play their titles. Including re-imagined controls of existing titles.”

What I love about this post is the ardent line its writer takes. Like a die-hard supporter of a marginalised right wing political party, Heiss seems almost to foam at the mouth in defence of his beloved Wii, going so far as to entitle his post ‘Wii Critics Kicked in the Teeth.’ Think of that.

“So,” he goes on, “to the critics chastising Nintendo every step of the way I have one thing to say. Word (sic) mean nothing at the end of the day and the numbers speak for themselves.”

So, from Heiss’s post we can draw at least three conclusions: 1. words mean nothing; 2. numbers can speak; 3. don’t piss off Heiss.
