Monkey Ball defection shame - appearing on iPhone this year
OK, so this isn’t really about Nintendo, but it’s sort of Nintendo in spirit. After all, Monkey Ball’s been one of Nintendo’s strongest performers over recent years on home consoles and handhelds. Hell, it even made the Gamecube seem like a success.
And here’s what Monkey Ball looks like running on iPhone, thanks to last night’s announcement of the iPhone software development tools that are letting developers stick whatever they like onto Apple’s wonder portable. You’re going to be impressed:
Impressed? You must be. Considering iPhone is mainly a mobile phone, an MP3 player and a web browser, it’s pretty staggering to see our favourite chimps rolling around in such a sensationally hi-res style on Apple’s fancy telephone.

That’s pretty impressive, I have to admit.

The funny thing is, just a few weeks ago a friend was putting down the iPhone as a niche thing and I told him “I dunno… that thing has a touchscreen better than the DS.”
Nintendo may not have to watch out just yet, but they better keep an eye on Apple.
What outright hilarious though is that Apple outdid the N-Gage without even trying. If you don’t remember the N-Gage, that’s ok.
