CHART TIME WARP: Brain Training back to #1 in the UK
Brain Training. The original Brain Training. The one that launched in June of 2006. It’s at #1 in the charts this week. This sort of longevity is absolutely unprecedented in the video gaming world.
There are so many ways to analyse this.
1. DS is selling like mad, and this is the game everyone buys.
2. DS owners are stupid. They buy Brain Training to become a bit less stupid, but lose the cart within hours. So have to buy a replacement.
3. Nintendo’s buying them all. Then selling them back to the shops or putting them in a big hole. It loses money, but raises the profile of DS. It may help for tax write-off purposes.
4. There’s been a mix-up in the bar code system. Everything scans through as “Brain Training” and no one knows how to fix it and no one wants to try fixing it in case they break it. This is almost certainly the reason.
5. Patrick Stewart advertised it on the telly. If it’s good enough for Patrick Stewart, it’s good enough for everyone.

I prefer Patrick Stewart’s performance in Extras.
I think many of you will agree.
