Wii Spore at “design stage” - but definitely coming

Speaking to game site Revogamers, Shaw revealed that Spore will arrive on Wii eventually - but it’ll be yet another different spin on the evolution sim designed from the ground up for the wavy magic wand machine. A bit like the creature-focused DS re-imagining revealed recently.

“The Wii version, we have no date for it, so we have no idea. Just initial design stage. We love the Wii, but we’re not ready to announce anything yet,” said Shaw, making a rather large error in announcing its existence even though she says they’re not ready to announce its existence.

And the reason why is crazed PowerPoint specialist and Spore creator Will Wright’s love of Wii…

“Will (Wright) loves the Wii. He plays the Wii more than any other. So I think as soon as we started talking about if we should make Spore on the Wii, he was like ‘Oh, let’s make Spore on the Wii!’ He’s very excited about it.”

The interview then tales off with lots of the usual high-concept design questions European journalists just love asking developers. Still, we got the fact we wanted - Spore IS coming to Wii. But it’s going to be bloody ages. And nothing like the PC/Mac versions.

    No matter! Spore on the Wii should be good. And I can’t wait to play the PC versions.

    ive seen like 30 you tube videos about spore on the PC and it looks awlsome. sadly im not alloud to play games on the computer cause it messis it up, i got a wii tho! just plz keep it all the same just change the control and keep it just as big with alll those awlsome different worlds. bassically keep it the same maybe you can down the grafics a lil. im just saying ideas. you dont really have to have it hooked up with other wiis to take ther creatures and stuff you could just make a random one generator( might be inpossible i dont know) or maybe right when you first get it you can hook up to internet and take the PCs ones. idk. just im sure youll do a good job, dont rush to get it out faster.

    yeh, i just do NOT hope they gonna make the wii version of the game like ‘creatures’ cause the ds version just doesnt seem fun..

    I’m still looking forward to a Wii version. I played the PC version and it’s quite good (specifically the creators). If they enhance the gameplay for the Wii, this’ll be a must-buy.

    man.. i serisously hope they do not make it like the DS version… it ruins Spore
    because the game just doesnt make sense, its actually dumb, cellphone game is actually pretty decent… but DS version is pretty bad…just doesnt make sense T.T I was hoping it would be like pc game,but its completely different and… im sorry Will… it is really boring, the editor is really limited and you can only make 1… :/
    Im looking forward to the Wii version, because I love wii and I believe mouse and wiimote can be used in a very similar way, so please Will, Maxis!! if you guys are hearinf this…dont change the escense of spore!! that’s what make it the best game! the fact that you Evolve your own species …
    Thats all I wanted to say :D
