Wii blamed for declining popularity of arcades

Over in the land of the Rising Sun, Namco Bandai and Sega complain that the Wii’s success has put a severe dent in their revenues from arcade machines. Now that kids have the Wii and DS, they’re saving all their pocket money to buy more games instead of frittering it away on the slots.

It’s not all bad news though, since both companies are producing their fair share of software for both consoles (albeit they’ll be making less money on that front). What the one hand giveth, the other taketh away. Or something.
