Meet Ultimate Link, the Marvel Superhero that never was

We love it when diligent netizens provide us with interesting trivia about the games of yesterday. Siliconera, for example, has procured evidence that Activision were planning to make Link a secret playable character in the Wii version of Marvel: Ultimate Alliance.

Given their extreme protectiveness of the family silver, Nintendo presumably nixed the idea as soon as it was mentioned. A pity. It would have given an otherwise excremental game something to be excited about. And they weren’t so reluctant to prevent Link from appearing in the GameCube version of Namco’s Soul Calibur all those years ago.

Bonus trivia for fans of obscure super-heroes: Captain Britain was planned for inclusion in the game, but for whatever reason he didn’t make it either. Perhaps Nintendo are going to use him in the forthcoming Super Smash Bros. Brawl?
