Parappa dev’s conduct announcement of their new Wii title
The new game from Parappa the Rapper creators NanaOn-Sha has finally been announced. It’s name: Major Minor’s Majestic March. It’s conceit: to wave the Wiimote like a baton, keeping the rhythm and tempo of your musical troupe in check. With a selection of fifteen different instruments, you can pick different combinations for your band making each performance a different experience to conduct. Yes, it’s all so obvious, yet we’re all still looking forward to it.
That’s mainly down to the distinctive visual style of Rodney Greenblatt. Think cute cartoon animals in bright colours. Likewise, NanaOn-Sha games have always had excellent soundtracks. This game promises over 25 popular marching tunes to play along with. We have no idea what these are, but we only know a few ‘popular’ marching tunes, so we speculatively expect the game to include the following:
- Oh When The Saints Go Marching In
- Here We Go, Here We Go, Here We Go
- The Imperial March from The Empire Strike Back
- The Theme From Monty Python
- Er…Hitler Has Only Got One Ball
We’ve been waiting for a Wii conducting game ever since Miyamoto got up on stage at E3 to demonstrate Wii Music. And while we wonder what ever happened to that title, NanaOn-Sha’s game has a high probability of getting the controls right and making the Wii sing considering their pedigree. Besides, the conducting genre isn’t exactly packed, with titles thin on the ground. The only ones we know of are Mad Maestro (AKA Bravo Music) for the PS2 and manga adaptation Nodame Cantabile for DS. With the latter also coming Wii-ward, would-be orchestra commanders have no reason to complain now.
