New Pro Evo Wii details
CVG have had a chance to see a preview of the Wii version of Pro Evo Soccer, and as a result have divulged some juicy details about the game’s approach to the Wii Remote. The main impact is that movement won’t be controlled with the Nunchuk as you would expect, but you point the Wii Remote where you want you player to dribble. Hmm… not so convinced so far, and I’m hoping that the pointer isn’t just being used because it’s there. Does this mean that the Nunchuk isn’t used at all? I guess that’s feasible, but it raises a whole host of questions about gameplay.
Passing is controlled with the A button, and shooting is determined by shaking the Remote. This is similar to the FIFA 08 on the Wii, and it actually works quite well. Although it’s not as responsive as button-pressing, it does immerse you into the action. The ability to control off-the-ball runs was also confirmed, and you have more control over your defence, asking them to step-up and spring an offside trap.
CVG have 15 new screenshots, and the game looks could (if a little mad, with arrows pointing all over the pitch). The game won’t be released until next year, but hopefully this will mean that the controls will be perfect.
