Hey, good looking - Wii up for design award
That compact angular design. The polar white surface. The brilliant blue slot. The discreet Nintendo markings. Truly, the Wii is a thing of beauty, a charming pixie amongst the 360’s jet engine and the PS3’s barbecue grill. No wonder, then, that it’s up for an award: the Japan Industrial Design Promotion Organization (JIDPO for short) have nominated it for a place in the Good Design Awards 2007 in the Product Design category.
Out of 1043 entries, the Wii scored highly, placing in the Best 15. These top designs will be put forward for the Grand Prize, to be announced on October 25th. Other such contenders include such products as an X-ray Mammography System, the HondaJet, and everybody’s favourite pointless MMO Second Life. Our fingers are crossed, but I reckon the Mammography machine will clinch it.
