Edge magazine gives Metroid Prime a lowly 7/10

edge-magazine.jpgRespected industry bible Edge magazine has awarded Metroid Prime 3 a lowly score of 7/10. Normally we wouldn’t pay much attention, the magazine is well known for its stern rating system, but in this instance their judgement is distinctly at odds with the rest of the games press. According to Metacritic, the game has an average rating of 91% across 38 sources.

The Nintendo fanboys, defensive to their core, are already smelling a rat. The same issue has awarded low scores for four Nintendo titles overall, whilst higher scores have been given to several 360 titles, including a coveted 10/10 for Halo 3. Is it possible that Edge is giving preferential treatment to one platform over another? Is their fabled objectivity exposed for having feet of clay?

The 7/10 score for Metroid is bad enough, but the 10/10 for Halo 3 is simply unforgivable. Such high score for a generic fps game, from a magazine that has a “stern rating system” makes me wonder how much Microsoft pays them…
