Samba Wii is all go, according to Nintendo Power
Samba de Amigo fans: prepare to stop shaking your fists in the air at the absence of a sequel to the undersold but over-loved maracas-shaking Dreamcast rhythm action game, and start shaking your fists in the air in practice for a Wii follow-up. A write-up of the new issue of Nintendo Power by Go Nintendo, reveals that the game will be out and letting us shake our rumps to the beat sometime in 2008. Is it true? We durned hope so.
Bizarrely, though, the developer for this sequel of sequels is somebody nobody would have thought of. Not Sonic Team, original makers of SdA. Not, say, iNIS, the people behind Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan and Elite Beat Agents. No, it’s, er, Gearbox Software, the team most recently known for the Brothers In Arms series. Really? How a team with no outright rhythm action experience will fare, we’ll have to see. I mean, how hard can it be?
No other firm news. We’d assume that the game will be taking advantage of the Wiimote and nunchuk as surrogate maracas. However, we think it just won’t be the same without the original peripheral. Make it so, Gearbox.
