Having remade one seminal game for the DS, Sim City, Electronic Arts Japan is not content to rest on their laurels. Their latest project has been announced, and it’s going to be a remake of Peter Molyneux’s Populous. For the uninitiated, Populous is a non-linear “god” game, where players adopt the role of a deity and take responsibility for a herd of sniveling human beings.

Inside Games is reporting that it won’t be just a straight remake, however. They reckon there’ll be lots of surprises in store, including multiple gods, new powers, and new story and tutorial modes. Best of all however, is the option for a four person multiplayer using the WiFi connection.

More news as and when we get it. This god game has the potential to be bigger than Jesus, folks!
