Super Smash Bros. Brawl online mode confirmed

Smash Bros. OnlineAlthough online play was boasted when the game was first announced, the lack of any real official announcement with the game’s release coming up fast, was making people doubt that it would appear in the final game. Those fears were put to rest today as today’s Dojo update confirms that it will be part of the game.

There are two modes available: a “with friends” mode, which will undoubtedly require friend code swappage, and a “with anyone” mode, so you can challenge anyone from around the world. I just hope that the game doesn’t suffer the same fate as Strikers, where you can only play people from the same continent.

Worryingly, the update states that the game will encounter more lag the further the players are apart, but I’m sure that Nintendo will have put more effort into the online aspect of this game than they did with Stikers. Now all we need is a UK release day this side of Christmas, and we’ll be good to go. There’s probably more chance of me actually being a playable character in Brawl than that happening, but we can hope.
