New GP2X handheld, DS emulation a possibility

Fans of the emulation scene will have heard of - and perhaps even own - the GP2X handheld. It’s a nifty piece of hardware, based on the Linux OS, which is packed with multimedia features for video, music, photos and gaming.
There’s not much in the way of commercial software available for the gadget, but it’s backed by a huge homebrew community which focuses on ROM emulation support. In non-geek speak, it’s a Virtual Console for playing on the move, supporting a variety of games from defunct consoles.
The latest version of the console, the GP2X F-200, has a new feature which should be interest to DS fans. It’s got a touch-sensitive screen, which means there’s now scope for a fully-fledged DS emulator. That’s going to be significantly more useful than the half-assed PSP/DS emulator we spotted a few weeks back.
We’ll keep our eyes peeled for any more developments on this front. Rest assured you’ll be the first to know.
