Help the Dutch figure out why we play games!

question_mark2.jpgEver sat frustrated from playing a video game? Only to pick up the controller thinking “right one more try!” knowing all too well that you have been saying that for the last 10 attempts?! Well the University of Amsterdam need your help!

The clever bods from the Netherlands have put together a questionnaire to try and understand what motivates us as gamers. Hoping to answer the ultimate question… WHY? Why do we play games?

Joyce Neys, a PhD student, working with Dr. Ed Tan and Dr. Jeroen Jansz at the university’s School of Communications Research, has designed the survey and she hopes it will help us understand why people play - and keep playing - video games.

There has previously been some research on the topic, but it’s tended to focus on specific groups and as such it did not supply a realistic picture of the gaming world! Neys and her research partners would rather get a broad picture of gamers’ motivations. So after seeing the link to the research on IGN I thought you guys might want to help out!
