Wii are number one

It’s only been two weeks since we told you that the Wii had passed the 10 million mark in terms of unit sales. Now they have apparently claimed the number one spot in the next-gen console wars. Although I’m never really sure how official (or accurate) the VGchartz figures are (and I never completely trust anything that replaces an “s” with a “z”), but according to them, the Wii figures stand at 10.57 million, a whole 0.06 million ahead of the 360. A pretty impressive feat, considering the year head-start the 360 had over the Wii. This also makes it the fastest selling console ever. Let’s just hope that the success can be maintained, and we now see some quality games being made for the console.
As they are not making much effort at Leipzig, they should be able to spend a bit of time celebrating. I’m off to have a bit of cake myself!
