Rock out(side) - Guitar Hero DS promises a unique experience
Red Octane’s COO, Charles Huang, offered a clue on the progress of Guitar Hero DS, stating that it “will play probably unlike any other DS game that has come out.” Further quizzing on this boldest of claims touched also on the question of the way we’ll be playing, eliciting an interesting but elusive response: “The DS peripheral is very intriguing to us. It’s an integral part of the Guitar Hero experience, so as much as possible, we would like to keep it within the experience as long as it makes sense and it plays well. It needs to be affordable and it needs to fit within the environment that people normally play DS games in.” The environment presumably being on the train, in a plane or lying in bed.
The technical issues are being resolved as we speak, yet the mind boggles at how the finished product will play to the DS’s strengths, and whether we’ll be able to rock out on something vaguely guitar-shaped or have to compromise. This unofficially mocked-up concept picture, isn’t a bad point to start from, we reckon.
