Tecmo collaborates with Japanese mystery writer

Kyotaro NishimuraLevel-5 worked magic from its collaboration with a noted Japanese psychologist in the excellent Professor Layton, and now Tecmo is teaming up with a famous Japanese mystery writer called Kyotaro Nishimura for a brand-new DS project.

The new game will be part of a series entitled DS Kyotaro Nishimura Suspense, as Famitsu explains, and is set for release in Japan this October. The mysteries here have all been overseen by Nishimura-san (who, according to Wikipedia, won the Mystery Writers of Japan prize in 1980) and developed with Tecmo’s celebrated programming skills. A winning combo? Perhaps.

We’d really like to see UK developers collaborating with famous writers. Problem is, most of the UK’s best mystery writers are dead. A real shame — Agatha Christie and Lionhead would have made such an intrguing match…
