If you missed out on the extremely limited edition yellow Pikachu DS Lite (and you most likely did), have a butcher’s at the above and you’ll see Takara Tomy’s second-place solution to the gap in the market created by rabid Pokemon lovers. Fit this silicon cover over your handheld and you too can make your DS Lite resemble an eighties-era pencil case emblazoned with a something-not-quite-right-here Pikachu drawing. It’s available from Play-Asia if you must/have a compulsive Pikachu fetish.

Of course, we should remember that the DS Lite isn’t the first time Pikachu’s had himself on a Nintendo console. It’s enough just to slap a tiny image on the side of a Gameboy to froth us into a frenzy, as Nintendo have done many times before (and not just with Pokemon). That’s not enough for us, though: we favour the full-model bas-relief Pikachu on the top of our blue and yellow Nintendo 64 - the one where you reset the console by pushing his little foot. One of the best pieces of Pokemon merchandise around? Well, it knocks the brown Halo 3 360 into a cocked hat, we’re sure of that.
