Game makers switching to Wii?

So says a report in the New York Times, which highlights the spiralling cost of making games for PS3 and Xbox 360. Instead of making one $20 million game for PS3, developers are, it seems, being encouraged to come up with “five or six” cheaper game ideas for Wii instead.
While this makes us slightly concerned that Wii quality control might start to plummet as game makers rush to pump out endless Brain Training clones and sport games, you can’t argue with the logic.
Very soon, more people around the world will own a Wii than Xbox 360 and PS3 sales combined. If game makers shift their focus to Wii they’ll make more money. And more people will buy Wii thanks to its larger collection of games. It’s simple common sense.

It was bound to happen. Just be glad that the Wii didn’t flop, and is still going strong.
