WiiWare: Original downloadable games on Wii
We’ve been asking for them for a long time and, finally, Nintendo is gearing up to deliver. According to LevelUp, the big N will announce today plans to launch WiiWare: original downloadable games — built specifically for Wii — for sale through the Wii Shop channel. Better still, indie developers will be asked/able to create games for this distribution platform alongside the industry giants; perhaps this is just the thing for Pollen Sonata, the game with no publisher we mentioned some weeks back.
There’s no doubt in my mind that when the first WiiWare games hit (early 2008 is the best guess so far) popularity for Nintendo’s console will quickly rocket from huge to astronomical. I, for one, cannot wait to see what some of those talented folks out there can come up with. Read the full article over at LevelUp here. This, people, has made my day. Source.

[...] I would guess that the previously reported WiiWare will feature heavily in Nintendo’s plans. With stiff competition from the PS3 and Xbox will Nintendo end up being over-shadowed this year! Will it be possible to submit an idea for a game to add to the Virtual Console or do we need to just wait and see if a game we are waiting for gets put there.

[...] Hurm. Come to think of it, why is the price so high? Geometry Wars first became popular as a budget game on Xbox Live. Instead of pumping it full of steroids and slapping on a hefty price tag, they should’ve made it into a launch title for Nintendo’s WiiWare download service. [...]
