A little bit of Kirby for us all to wake up to this morn, and a bloody wolf too — though perhaps that kind of shenanigans is better left until the eve. Golf? Or blood? Anyone?

We’ve known about the ability to edit our own music videos in EA’s Boogie for a while now but only today did I actually see the video maker interface in action. It’s a bit difficult to see what everything does from the clip above but any editor that allows users to fill the screen with floating love hearts has got to be top-quality merchandise indeed. Watch the Boogie trailer if you haven’t already here on WiiWii. Source.

We’ve been asking for them for a long time and, finally, Nintendo is gearing up to deliver. According to LevelUp, the big N will announce today plans to launch WiiWare: original downloadable games — built specifically for Wii — for sale through the Wii Shop channel. Better still, indie developers will be asked/able to create games for this distribution platform alongside the industry giants; perhaps this is just the thing for Pollen Sonata, the game with no publisher we mentioned some weeks back.
There’s no doubt in my mind that when the first WiiWare games hit (early 2008 is the best guess so far) popularity for Nintendo’s console will quickly rocket from huge to astronomical. I, for one, cannot wait to see what some of those talented folks out there can come up with. Read the full article over at LevelUp here. This, people, has made my day. Source.

Big celebrity name, old celebrity brain. You’ve probably seen the above advert during the break in whatever rubbish is on TV nowadays but YouTube is a wonderful tool; now we can watch commercials on demand. The purpose of the clip is to advertise More Brain Training on Nintendo DS and who better to do it than a Hollywood A-lister (Kidman) who wants in on the current Nintendo money train. Tell me, does she sell it for you?

An article over at PC magazine is telling it like it really is right now and naming our beloved Nintendo Wii the “best product ever”. Running through the various factors such as gameplay, graphics, backwards-compatibility, etc. the article struggles to find fault with the machine. It even managed to convert the author of the piece (a non-console gamer) over from the dark side. You can read the whole article here for yourself, he even compares it to Star Wars at one point. Wow, he really is converted.
“Let Go and Think Big: There’s a scene in Star Wars: Episode IV: A New Hope (originally released as Star Wars in 1977), when Luke Skywalker is being trained by Ben Obi-Wan Kenobi to use a lightsaber. Ben tells Luke to “use the force” and “let go of your conscious self and act on instinct.” This is what Nintendo obviously did with the Wii. Instead of trying to one-up the competition, it took a moment to imagine a console system that would appeal to everyone.”

I don’t know if my Wii Sports tennis serve is quite up to competing on a global stage such as Wiimbledon, but I can’t help being a little disappointed by the fact that I couldn’t attend the recent event (it was in the States). Wiimbledon, as you might expect, was a day-long tennis-fest held in New York on Saturday past. It was won, of course, by a guy in a Luigi costume and as they hand over his prize (a Wii) in the video after the break, the only thought going through my head is that he must have one of those already, surely? Wedbush Morgan Securities analyst Michael Patcher spoke to Gamedaily about Manhunt 2 and just how much it could cost Rockstar to rework the game to allow it to be released into the US market. As previously reported the fact that Manhunt 2 has gained itself a AO rating in the US means that both Sony and Nintendo will not be allow the product on their consoles in the US.
So, just how much would it cost to shed the damning AO rating? Patcher estimates that it would cost in the region of $1 million. Which may sound horrendous but in the grand scheme of things, considering the volume of sales that Rockstar titles manage to achieve Patcher expects that this loss would turn quite quickly into a win should the product hit retail.
Obviously it would be great for all of us in Europe too as it might lead to the BBFC giving Manhunt 2 a classification and letting all us UK gamers enjoy the gore-tastic title.

Ok sports fans this is one for you, EBGames have given us a glimpse at the brand new Wii fishing rod controller! Coming bundled with Hooked: Real Motion Fishing, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to work out just how us gamers will be using this fantastic little gadget.
If any of you ever played a fishing game with the Dreamcast’s fishing rod controller then you will undoubtedly be excited by the prospect of finally getting your hands on the sort of game the Wii was made for with a controller that will just work to enhance the experience further!
What other sports games are, so far, sorely missed on Nintendo’s wonder machine? A “real” tennis game is pretty high on my list although a new Mario Power Tennis wouldn’t go amiss either!
Well the week came and went and IGN’s Nintendo DS pages were strangely silent after last weeks promise of news and proof on the, now seemingly mythical Halo DS.
So was it just a late April fools or have IGN been slammed with a gagging order from Nintendo / Microsoft or both!? Maybe they are just late in posting up the news and we shall certainly keep our eyes on IGN just in case.
One thing is for sure, it is terribly unfortunate that nothing emerged, as Halo DS has quickly become the new holy grail of gaming. Almost like the route to the other island on the Dam level of GoldenEye 007!
For all of you who are as disappointed as we are there is a little bit of news on at least one Halo themed project that has made it onto a handheld! Yes Halo on the PSP is here! Admittedly it is 2D and it is a homebrew game so only those who are part of the “scene†will know how to install and play it. Obviously we can’t tell you how so don’t ask!
For a home coded game it certainly looks the business, so come on Microsoft let us have some official Halo love on the DS now!
