Lylat Wars touches down on the Virtual Console
Today truly is a great day, readers. Lylat Wars — easily one of the Nintendo64’s finest titles — landed on the Wii’s Virtual Console for download today. Yes, 1000 points will buy you the second game in the Star Fox series and still the best to date. I lost an obscene amount of hours to this game in my youth. If it wasn’t through the endless replayability of the single player mode then it was the simply brilliant multiplayer — which spawned a put-down catchphrase with me and my gaming buddies that can still be heard in certain deathmatches to this day (and, no, I can’t repeat it here before you ask).
Also launching on the VC for the cheaper price of 500 Wii points is the old NES game Donkey Kong Jr. Math. Having never played this one myself, I can’t be quite as enthusiastic but, c’mon, it’s got Donkey Kong in it. That’s got to count for something.
