Wii Health on the way for fitness freaks

matron.jpegLumme. No sooner have I finished writing a post about whether playing Wii is healthy for you, than I see a separate article about an upcoming game called Wii Health.

It’s a Nintendo product, and was apparently let slip by Nintendo’s Greek distribution CEO. His comments, in translation:

“The Health Pack (according to first reports) will give the possibility to the consumer of executing certain exercises, where all the biometric elements will be transported via the corresponding channel that will exist in the Wii to a hospital. Wii will have a contract for such a service with a hospital in every country. After certain hours the results of the check up will arrive back in the user’s house!”

Cor. And cor again. This would be marvellous. Although if I put my pompous political hat on, I do wonder if there are slightly better uses for NHS staff than checking data sent from my Wii to make sure I’m not on the verge of a heart attack.

Anyway, it’s a leak, and Nintendo isn’t commenting officially on whether Wii Health even exists, let alone if it’ll hook up to a UK hospital. More news as it emerges.
