Twilight Princess microsite launched

Zelda + Midna on WiiWiiI didn’t get a chance to mention this when it first launched but better late than never and all that, right? With all the success Nintendo have been having with The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess on Wii and Gamcube they felt the game was the lacking the online presence it so rightfully deserved. To ease the pain of this virtual emptiness, they launched this microsite. It’s very pretty and has got all the usual things you might expect from an official game site (with Midna as your guide): story, actions and controls, gallery and a neat little character page. But there’s more.

There’s a little game to play too. Those who have played Twilight Princess — or those who are reading our game diary here on WiiWii — will recognise the tears of light gameplay element where you must use your senses to find invisible bugs and drain them of these tears, collecting enough to restore light to the land. Well, some have made their way over onto the site and it’s your job to catch them all. I was amused to find that it actually requires far more effort to find them on here than in the Wii game, but the reward is worth it: a secret download page with themed wallpapers, mp3s and icons. Happy hunting.

[...] You may remember me mentioning The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess official microsite at the end of last month. And if you visited it back then and felt it to be a little lacking in content, you’ll be glad to hear this news. Those nice folks at Nintendo have packed the pages with even more content than before. All the blank spaces on the world map have now been filled. There’s more character and monster biographies than you can shake Link’s master sword at. There’s even a few more screens, concept art and videos in the gallery section. Whether the little in-site minigame has increased in difficulty because of this expansion remains to be seen. Though the rewards are still worth the play time I’m sure. [...]

[...] Adding to the list of ever-growing official Wii game websites (Mario Strikers & Twilight Princess), the Smash Bros. DOJO!! has recently launched and, if you haven’t already concluded, this means all sorts of Super Smash Bros. Brawl goodies, info and clips for us to peruse online. Although there are still some sections at the time of writing to be populated (the Game Modes and Notices pages are both still offline), the site has a bunch of cool stuff to get us already to play; character profiles, stage and item information, even a How To Play walkthrough.
