Zelda: Twilight Princess - That darn cat
Regular readers of WiiWii will remember a Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess diary that was started but never finished. Good news folks! That series will resume this very night! More importantly though, going by the comments on those posts, it seems that quite a few gamers are still having some problems with the cat in Link’s village at the start of the game. Well, in an effort to avoid spoilers and such we never posted such a guide — not that it really spoils anything, but not everyone wants to be told how to do these things you understand.
For those of you who do want a little helping hand, though, you can read this guide that I myself have written elsewhere. This should make everyone happy; those who don’t want to read it don’t have to follow the link, and those who do can. We aim to please here at WiiWii after all. Happy gaming.

Ok, now i already had the idea of fishing to catch the fish but i couldn’t figure out how to catch a fish….How do you catch a fish?

i had the basic idea to catch the cat but it puzzled me why it wasnt walking back i thought aswell that if i walked with my rod it would eventually foollow me back to the house but thanks to the wii guide ive got past that stage and am well into the game

i walked the cat back to the store, but how do i give it back to the shop keeper? ive been trying to figure this out for 40 mins.

This “walkthrough” doesn’t tell people what they really need to know; the motions they need to go through to catch a fish. I’ve been trying for almost an hour with my rod, but I cannot catch a fish! Someone help, Saying when and how much to jerk up would be much appreciated.

omg! I’m so thrilled I got one, yes! ok, after you cast your line, wiggle your remote without letting your colored bobber thing leave the water. You should see fish swimming towards you and out of view. Wait a little while, until your bobber has sunk below the water several times. You should be holding your remote horizontal to the water. After the bobber sinks below the water, quickly jerk your remote into a vertical position, if timed right your screen should have a message saying “FISH ON!” continue holding your remote in a vertical position and Link will just reel it in. Make sure when you flick your remote up, the bobber is completely submerged. I hope this helps, oh and make sure you watch Links face when the cat steals his fish, priceless! Good luck all!

for all you guys who cant figure it out you just catch another fish and the cat will take it and go back to the house then get milk from the lady,drink it and then go to old guys house and go up the hill and i dont know after that

i have found out lots! Im now a wolf. To feed the cat, you keep fishing until the cat just takes it. By the way, you’ll never believe it but Zelda is a GIRL!

Mak sure you have 30 rupees so you can buy the sliingshot. I was totally scared when i first battled something but im not scared anymore because im a wolf. I showed my oldest brother how to get the bed and call the eagle and im younger than him and im a girl. When your a wolf, you can call the eagle if you go near the grass and toggle the numchuck stick! I warn you now, when your a wolf, this alien type thing called midna comes and has a wierd laugh and sits on your back and she also loves link! (Or whatever your character is called)

this does not work one bit the hawk gets half way toward the monkey and then turns of to the left… any ideas now ?

I have the same prob too. teh hawk get half way towards the monkey and turn to the left

You have to climb on the building of the roof, then jump on the next two rocks and pick the grass there before you send the eagle to get the monkey.

Ok let me explain bit better about fishing & the cat, it was kinda hard and many were probably pushing wrong buttons so according what others have wrote here..
a) Press the menu where you can choose to equip fishing pole.
b) Press Y or X to equip the fishing pole and close the menu with the same button you open it.
c) Now go near water (at the place where cat is or was) and use the Y or X to start fishing.
d) Wait a bit (usually 7-15sec) to bubble go under water (you can see when fish swim near it)
e) When the bubble is under water no, you DO NOT press the “go forward” or “go back” -button. Instead use the button that zooms closer and HOLD IT DOWN, “FISH ON” -message will appear if you catch it, but keep the button still down until dialog appear that you have catched it.
f) If you don’t catch it, you will pick up an empty hook, so throw it back..
I hope this helps, can’t explain easier than this. ;p

To Jenny: Thank you sooooo much! I literally spent like 1.75 hours trying to get a fish!!! I was horrible! Video games are supposed to make you have fun, but this one just ugh!!! I wanted to shoot myself… and Link! And the stupid cat! But I got two fishes! And I thank you very much!
