Play import Gamecube games on your PAL Wii?
According to a user over at the Max Console forums there’s a neat little trick that we PAL Wii owners can try out to play import Gamecube games on our consoles. This trick is just that and, supposedly, requires no hacks, modifications, technical know-how or the use of the Freeloader. All you need is lightning fast fingers, and an import disc. Unfortunately, try as I might, I can’t seem to place any of my old import games this morning — I’d normally like to try this stuff out before mentioning it — but we’ll assume this works. Please let us know if you have any luck with it if you decide to try it out.
To open up the world of import gaming on your unmodified Wii all you have to do is first insert any PAL Gamecube disc into your Wii (non-import) with your pointer at the ready hovering over the start button. Press eject on the console, ejecting the PAL game and then before the button is disabled hit “start” at the very last second. Now this is when the lightning fast reflexes that I mentioned above come into play. Now you have to remove that ejecting non-import disc from the Wii and replace it with your import title before the blue lights start to flash. If you succeed, then the game should boot up as normal. If not, then you can try, and try, and try again. Good luck. Source. [JC]

[...] Since mentioning this little trick/hack in a post earlier today the video above has popped up online for us all to see it in action. Basically by swapping a PAL Gamecube disc for an import at faster-than-a-speeding-bullet speed it’s possible to play imported titles without console modification. Watch and learn. My only question is, with all this effort put into the demonstration couldn’t the guy have asked a friend or something to hold the camera for him? There’s too much going on. His cinematography suffers as a result. Poor show. Source. [JC] [...]
